Marvel’s Eternals Extended Promo Showcases Major MCU Moments the Group Missed

A new promo for Marvel Studios’ Eternals showcases key MCU events that the group of immortal beings missed while in hiding.

Marvel Studios released a new extended promo for its upcoming film Eternals, showing some key moments in Marvel Cinematic Universe history that the group of immortals missed.

The promo — titled “Beginnings” — kicks off with clips from previous MCU projects including Captain America throwing his shield in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Tony Stark’s snap in Avengers: Endgame. This is followed by a new look at Eternals, showing off the ensemble cast and featuring key moments such as Thena and Ikaris preparing for battle against the Deviants. “For years we have watched and seen them accomplish wonders, but we have never interfered. Until now,” Sersi says.

Also on display is the group’s powers, including Thena’s ability to manifest weapons using her hands and Makkari’s use of superspeed. The promo also touches on how the film will have major implications on future MCU projects. “The end of one era, is the beginning of another,” Arishem adds.

Eternals –which is the fourth film in Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 — follows a group of immortal superheroes who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the Eternals are brought out of hiding when their lifelong enemies, called the Deviants, return. The group must reunite in order to protect the world from these evil creatures.

The film features a large ensemble cast, including many notable faces such as Richard Madden as Ikaris, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as Druig and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman/Black Knight.

Though it’s expected to open strong at the box office, Eternals was recently revealed to be Marvel Studios’ first “Rotten” movie on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 53% rating after 197 reviews at the time of this writing. This title was previously held by Thor: The Dark World, which has a rating of 66%. Eternals is also set to be one of the longest movies ever in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a 156-minute runtime.

Directed by Chloé Zhao, Eternals opens in theaters on Nov. 5.
