Why Jeremy Renner Watched Avengers Once – And Will Never Do It Again

Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner says he’s only watched Avengers: Endgame at the premiere with all of the cast and refuses to watch it again.

Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner explained why he’ll never watch Avengers: Endgame again.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Renner discussed just how emotional it was watching the film for the first time alongside all the cast. “I saw it at the premiere, but that was just something to celebrate for all of us. We were all laughing and weeping, and it was a lot, it was a lot to do,” he recalled. “I’ll never watch that again. It was a difficult experience. We were all just a sobbing mess and we’re laughing. It’s amazing, we were like audience members, and that was awesome to experience. That was a lovely, beautiful experience to share.”

Avengers: Endgame was the culmination of the 22 previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the Avengers battled to reverse the snap and bring back everyone who had passed at the hands of Mad Titan Thanos. Despite succeeding against the villain and resurrecting those that died in Avengers: Infinity War, the film saw the deaths of two key members of the MCU: Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.

Hawkeye, in particular, had a turbulent storyline throughout Endgame, where he took on the mantle of Ronin after his entire family was dusted. Ronin went on a killing spree across the world, choosing to slaughter those who he believed shouldn’t have survived the snap. Natasha Romanoff eventually found him and brought him to the Avengers so they could orchestrate their time heist.

Barton is set to face the consequences of his actions in his own Disney+ series Hawkeye, with the first two episodes now available. The six-part series follows Clint and young archer Kate Bishop as they team up to fight some enemies from Clint’s mysterious past as Ronin. The show also looks to tackle Clint’s grief from losing Natasha in Avengers: Endgame.

Speaking of Natasha, Hawkeye will see the return of Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. The post-credits scene of Black Widow foreshadowed her role in the series when she was informed that Clint was the one responsible for her surrogate sister’s death.
