Parents of suspected Michigan school shooter arrested in Detroit
James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of the teen charged in the Oxford High School shooting in Oxford Township, Michigan, were located and arrested early Saturday in Detroit. Authorities had been searching for the Crumbley parents since about noon Friday after they were charged with four counts each of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting deaths at the suburban Detroit high school on Tuesday. Their son, Ethan Crumbley, 15, is accused of fatally shooting four students and injuring seven others. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said the parents bought the firearm used in the shooting for their son as a Christmas gift. The couple did not show up for their arraignment Friday afternoon in Rochester Hills, Michigan. McDonald acknowledged Friday that charges are not often brought against parents in other school shooting cases, but that she intended to hold anyone who contributed to the shooting accountable, adding “the facts of this case are so egregious.”

Visitation being held for Oxford High School victim
Visitation for Madisyn Baldwin, a 17-year-old who was killed in this week’s shooting at Oxford High School , will be held Saturday in Orion Township. Baldwin was described by Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald as “a talented artist and a big sister.” Baldwin’s grandmother, Jennifer Graves Mosqueda, made a public plea using the online fundraising site GoFundMe.com on behalf of her family as they mourn the teen’s death. Posted around midnight Tuesday, the public has met and tripled the set goal of $30,000. By 6 a.m. Saturday, donations had topped $95,000 from nearly 2,000 donors. Visitations and funerals for two of the other victims, Tate Myre and Hana St. Juliana, have been announced and will take place next week.
College football playoff picture becomes clear
The College Football Playoff field will be determined Saturday when a quartet of conference title games will effectively whittle six teams down to four. One team, the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs, have all but locked up a spot in the final four. Their opponent Saturday in the SEC Championship, perennial powerhouse Alabama, would need an upset to lock up its spot. If Georgia wins, three others would get in with a win Saturday: Oklahoma State (vs. Baylor in the Big 12 title game), Cincinnati (vs. Houston in the American championship tilt), and Michigan (vs. Iowa in the Big 10 title game). A loss by any one of those four teams could open the door for Notre Dame to reach the playoff. The four teams to reach the playoff will be announced Sunday afternoon (ESPN, 12 p.m. ET).
Why fresh blood in CFP is great for college football
If the favorites win on Saturday we could see three new teams in the College Football Playoff. Dan Wolken believes a CFP without the usuals in Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson is great for the sport.

Hawaii’s Big Island under blizzard warning
A blizzard warning has been issued for the Big Island of Hawaii effective through Sunday morning. Forecasters predict up to 12 inches of snow and winds gusting over 100 mph on the island, urging residents to stay indoors. “Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility at times, with periods of zero visibility,” the National Weather Service warning reads. Snowfall occurs every year in certain mountainous regions of Hawaii. In January, snow blanketed a small part of the Big Island. Since the summits of Hawaii’s Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa volcanoes both rise over 13,000 feet in elevation, snow falls when cold fronts and heavy rains form, according to the Weather Channel.
